# Performance assessment

In respect of our founding principle of transparency, disclosure around investment decisions and success key to the DAO. Performance is not just after the fact but includes the rationale for having taken certain decisions leading to allocations or trades.

We will walk through the process of how proposals can be submitted to the Treasury and Investment Committee further on in this paper. What is key to point out, however, is that a summary will be written setting out why an investment decision has been made – or not. These will be made accessible Seiventures, with some potentially subject to deferral given market sensitivity of the underlying information. A further point of note is that trades may be subject to certain conditions, including associated revenue targets or time periods over which a trade will be put in place. Where these conditions exist, a regular follow-up will be published in the form of a dashboard (which may initially be spreadsheet-based) to provide transparency over the adherence to the investment strategy.

Assessing the DAO performance is not a trivial task, as this includes defining the base asset against which we assess performance; and this is volatile itself. We are looking to create a multi-dimensional performance assessment framework, which will cover both performance of SV-Invest overall as well as at a strategy and trade level. Amongst others, the following types of performance measures will be considered:

* Stack performance: A generic indicator will be the growth of our Treasury overall. This will be disclosed against Sei as the base currency of the Sei ecosystem, as well as against USD and potentially a selected stablecoin. These indicators will be complementary given current limitations regarding hedging of currency fluctuations. With time, we may choose to review these indicators as crypto / stable positioning itself may become part of our investment strategy
* Performance against selected benchmark: Benchmarks are a useful way to measure our performance relative to other indices or assets. This will become more relevant with time, and we may initially select a small number of benchmarks similar to different aspects of our strategy
* Sub-portfolio or trade-level performance indicators: As we gear up operations, we will build dashboards with sets of performance indicators at more granular levels, incl. putting in relation risk and return. For example, this may include simple ratios of return vs. capital put at risk, as well as ratios of profitable / non-profitable trades and limit utilisation

Some of the analytics will be publically available on the (yet-to-be-developed) website of the DAO, while granular dashboards and additional analytics will be limited to Seiventures. Depending on the success of the DAO, we may decide to establish an analytics arm as a separate value stream at a later point in time.
